Morale. Morale in Mythic Fantasy Role Playing Game can be used in many ways, it's all up to the Mythmaster, but as written, you roll for morale when you first see a creature and[1] when you are wounded, or for example if the situation changes and an even more scary creature shows up. The modifications for morale is you have two talents that can modify your morale rolls. You have courageous and fearless and you can be a level 5 berserk warrior and[2] then you can also gain a little bonus to your morale, which of course means that you have some self-confidence and you know that you're a warrior, so you have a little bit more courage because of that. You can have an effect of a courage spell and in relation to animals you can be an animal friend and therefore be a little bit more comfortable and run around animals, even scary ones, or you can have a very high or 10, I think it's a 10 level, yes a 10 level berserk warrior in your party, in which case you will feel a little bit more confident and not that afraid because you know you have that big guy on your side so you're not that likely to run away. And the morale roll is simply a 3d6 plus your willpower, willpower is also the basic courage value of your character, and then you roll against a table and the result will determine whether or not you are afraid. There are different degrees of being afraid, you can[3] be nervous, you can be afraid, you can be fearful, terrified and you can panic. You can also be[4] traumatized. If you are in panic you will actually gain a tiny bonus to your melee skill because you are so desperate that you will fight like a madman to get out of the situation.[5]
  1. You can of course also choose not to use it at all, if you wish to keep things simple.
  2. In order to pick the "Fearless" talent, you first have to pick the "Courageous" talent.
  3. Each and every creature has a Fright Value too, that will modify the result.
  4. E.g. encountering a fire-breathing dragon is kind of scary compared to encountering a wild horse.
  5. So panic can help you escape dangerous situations. Being Traumatized on the other hand is not helpful for anything at all.
