Today we fix the car again. And I bet I have a whole lot of Germans thinking to themselves now that "Hah, das russisch auto ist wieder kaputt" [ger. Hah, that russian car is broken again]. But is it really? Let's find out. Nah. We are fixing the Volkswagen again.
The problem is that when I push the throttle, it accelerates this much, but it's supposed to go all the way here. So I only have like 50-60% of the power that I'm supposed to have.
And as you can imagine, the first thing we need to do to fix the throttle all the way back there is to remove the spare tire like that. And I had to do that because this is the wire from the throttle to the engine, to the diesel pump. So I have to take off this and Viola!
Now, as you can tell here, I don't have much leverage here. I have to. I've already adjusted it as far as I can, but it's still a bit wobbly. And I'm going to loosen it here and take it beyond what is theoretically possible. And as you can tell, I have taken it a little bit extra and I'm going to tighten it here. Voila, problem solved.
Before we drive, we have to put this back on. And I'm pretty sure putting this back up is wise before I try to drive it. Then the moment of truth.
This car is from 1991. It has gone 500,000 km, or about 300,000 miles. And as you could tell it wasn't that much of a hassle to fix it. And sure, I have to, you know, do stuff like that every now and then, but so what? This repair cost me exactly zero euro to fix. I had to spend maybe 15 minutes, and that was it.
