Had I met Necrobutcher today, I would have shaken his hand and I would have said, I'm sorry for having believed in all the vicious lies that Euronymous spread about you. Had I met Hellhammer today, I'd shake his hand, too, and I'd make sure that we were, you know, nobody saw us. And I'd just say, you're welcome. If I had met Fenris, I would have shaken his hand and I'd say, thank you. Why? Let's find out. You see, in 1993, the mainstream media and the police were running a massive campaign of slander. Um, and they were doing all they could to get all the people in the scene to inform on me. And they even told them that, you know, if you have something on Vikernes, let us know. And they made people say all sorts of things, some of them quite funny, actually, as one of two bands who didn't, you know, rat out completely. Um, Mayhem stayed cool. They didn't inform on anybody about things they knew, didn't give police interviews in east and west, and didn't do anything wrong, really. But Darkthrone, that's a special case. Or should I say Fenris? Because we're talking about Fenris here. Fenris. Not only did he not fall for their slanderous propaganda,[1] he also went out and publicly showed support for me. How? Let's find out. He wrote me a little letter, asked me to write lyrics for Darkthrone. And then he released a new Darkthrone, album with lyrics by me. And that was his way of showing support and his way of showing contempt for all these other weaklings. And his way of showing that he had a backbone.[2] And for that I would thank him had I met him today. Thank you for watching.
