Why did I become a musician? Well, let's find out. My true passion was playing role playing games. But a friend of mine had a guitar for sale and my brother purchased that guitar. And he turned out to have yet another guitar for sale. The one I purchased, the western (?). Don't even know why. I don't remember why. I wasn't particularly interested, but I did. And when I was waiting for the other guys to show up so that we could play role playing games, I often sat there and played the guitar. But then came 1989, the other guys that I used to play role playing games with started giving priority to their education.[1] And therefore we didn't have the time to play role playing games anymore. And since the only other thing I was doing a lot at the time was to play the guitar, I did that more. And then one day I had lost my pick. But I had a girl in my class from elementary school, and I remember that her big brother Harold played in a band. And he lived like a couple of hundred meters away. So I just walked over there and asked him.[2] Rang the doorbell and said, you know, can I have a pick? I have lost mine. Can I borrow one of yours? Harold was there along with his girlfriend. And I think also Jørn played in Amputation with Harold and also two of the guys from Old Funeral. When I was there, they showed me the demo tape of Old Funeral - The Abduction of Limbs, and I thought it was really cool. And they only had one guitarist, so they asked me, maybe you want to play with us? And the next day, I went out to their rehearsal place and started playing with them. And I'm going to tell you something weird now, because Old Funeral became a much worse band when I joined them. Why? Let's find out. You see, I heard that demo tape, and I thought it was really cool. But at the exact same time, they had switched from playing their techno thrash metal stuff to death metal. And at that time, I joined them. So when I joined them, they started to play death metal, and it was fairly boring compared to their thrash metal stuff. But they really wanted to play death metal. And in the end, I left and I started my own project Burzum[3] that I did something completely different with. In any case, that's the short story about how Burzum came to be and why I became a musician. And, yes, I can mention again that if you want the long story, you can read this book. And that mail shirt is much cooler than the one I'm wearing right now. I still have it.
