Playing this game is quite simple. For non combat tasks, the game master will simply determine a difficulty and the player will roll a die against a target number which is equal to his ability score or a relevant ability score. The game master says that the adventurer has arrived at a cliff and in order to continue he has to scale the cliff. Right? So he tells the player that it is of medium difficulty. The player already knows his chances. His dexterity is 12. So you roll a die and if the result is equal to or lower, it is pretty much a success. That is, if it's equal, it's a semi success. If it's 1 to 4 lower, it's a success. And it's if it's 5 or more lower than the ability score, it's a critical success. Meaning in this case will influence the climbing rate. If you roll higher it's a failure and if you roll 5 or more higher it's a critical failure. And this might well mean that the character falls and takes some damage. The difficulty will influence this as well as different conditions that the character may suffer from, as well as illumination in some contexts. So it's quite basic, quite simple and easy to play and easy to understand. For combat it's a different subject. You have to roll high, but I'll talk about that another time.
