There are many things that I can do, and there are many things that I have done that I didn't do very well, but there's one thing that I did really well, I think. Do you want to know what? Let's find out.[1] I am not a very good guitarist. You could say I have my own style, and I managed to play music, but I'm not a very good guitarist. I'm not a very good bass player either. Certainly not a good keyboard player, and I pretty much suck at playing drums. I did play drums better before, but my main quality was really, you know, endurance. I could play for a long time and keep the beats per round at the steady level.[2] That was my quality. Technically, I sucked. I've always sucked. I'm not a good mixer, when you go to the studio and mix. Not a good producer. Certainly not a good drawer. I can't make anything of the artwork myself. If I did, you'd die laughing when you saw it. I'm not a good car mechanic. I can fix some things, but it's not just the lack of equipment that makes me unable to fix certain things. It's also a complete lack of competence. I am not a good driver. I mean, I might be a good chauffeur in the sense that I'm safe and comfortable to ride with me, but technically I'm not a good driver at all. Not a good off-road driver either, for that sake. Not that I have taken a test to see if I'm good or not, but I feel like I'm sub-par, really. Not a good fence builder. I have built a lot of fences on our property, mainly around it, by the way. And if I had been a professional, they would probably not pay me for it, because my work is not very good. I can build a fence, but it doesn't look very good. I'm not a good gardener. I can make some things grow, and if it works, I'm pretty much sure it's because I was lucky. Not because of any competence from me. I am not a good painter of cars, but I've done it anyway. The result was pretty cool, but quality-wise it's terrible. I mean, if I did that on somebody else's car, they would probably try to run over me with the car afterwards or something. What else? I'm not a good electrician, for sure, but I did manage to put up our solar panels, and with the help from my friend Cedric we put up the panels and all that stuff as well, we had to pull the wires through from other wires. It wasn't too hard, but I'm not a very competent person, per se, really. There are many things that I really don't know how to do, and there are many things that I do anyhow, but I barely manage. But the most important thing, I think, is that if you need to have something done, you should try to do it yourself anyway. Even if you do it poorly, you do it yourself. Even if you don't manage to do it, then at least you tried. The more you do this, consequently, I mean in every aspect, each and every situation, the more you will learn. This is a survivalist mentality. You try to become more competent. When you're not competent, you try to become more competent and try to manage anyhow.[3] Even when you don't know how to do something, you will give it a shot. So the conclusion to this. If you need to have something done, you should try to do it yourself, even if you feel that[4] you don't know how to. You can just watch some YouTube videos on how to do it. They probably exist, and you should give it a shot. Try. And if you do it yourself, not only will you probably save money, but the more important is that you will become more self-sufficient and you will educate yourself and become more free. And that is actually a pretty neat reward. Bye bye.[5][6]
  1. Do it yourself.
  2. Except on the first recording of the "Burzum" track (a.k.a. "Dunkelheit").
  3. We are incompetent most of the time, because of school. We were taught only completely useless things. We have to learn all the useful stuff on our own.
  4. I did with Burzum, and I think that's a good example of a success story. Today, I make a living because of Burzum (and MYFAROG).
  5. Here is something I fele I did really well: My role-playing game. For a change, I did something really well.
  6. If you want to survive in the future, you should make yourself valuable, and learn something useful. Your best "survivalist tool" is your own brain - and what you have stored in it over the years.
