In mythic fantasy roleplaying game, if your character is religious, he can ask for favors from the deities, or he can ask for divine aid. And I'm going to explain what divine aid is, and how it's done. When you ask for a favor, you ask the deity to perform for you. But when you ask for divine aid, you ask your favorite deity to help you perform better. And how you do it is simply, you spend some of your favor points in order to gain a positive modifier to a die roll, related to a specific skill.

When it comes to divine aid, each and every deity has a few skills listed that they can help you with. You can find the list on page 100 in the rulebook. And if I for example have Skanþan as my favorite deity, I can ask for divine aid by spending some favor points in relation to acrobatics, climbing and tracking. If I for example had (?) instead, which by the way is Odin, I would have been able to ask for divine aid in relation to alchemy, poetry, melee when it comes to spears, and also missile when it comes to throwing spears. And you can ask for this anytime, and you have to spend the favor points and ask for divine aid before you cast the dice. And finally, when you ask for divine aid, you cannot roll a natural 18 or 17 result, which normally would have cost you to automatically succeed, or at least achieve a semi-success.
