About Autism
Autism. What is that really? Let's find out.

First of all I am going to say that there is nothing wrong with autists. Autism is not a diagnosis as such. People with autism just have a different way of thinking and being different is not wrong and it's not even unnormal because there are a lot of people diagnosed with autism. No. I have never been "diagnosed" with autism. I do know a lot about it though, because my wife is a HFA (High Functioning Autist). And the reason for this is that people with autism are hypersensitive to sensory stimuli. For example noise or light or a lot of commotion. So they are hypersensitive and in the society we live in today there is more and more of this type of stimuli that they are hypersensitive to. And the autistic people don't behave in a strange manner. The fact is that they only behave in a strange manner if they are stressed because they have been exposed to too much sensory stimuli.

Autism is something you will only find in people with Neanderthal DNA. I.e in European mainly, but also Asians, Native Australians and Native Americans. And in Africans mixed with any of the above. The reason why people with autism are hypersensitive to this sensory stimuli is that they are more wild, they are less tamed, they are less domesticated,[1]they are more like human beings are supposed to be. So in a sense not having autism should be the real diagnosis because the autistic person is really the normal person.

We often see these autistic people presented to us as if they are mentally retarded or something like that. And of course some of them are. But it's not because of autism.[2]They are mentally retarded but it is not because they are autistic. Autism has nothing to do with that. So autistic people are more wild and less domesticated and also their intelligence level is higher.[3]Their ability to concentrate on a subject is higher. Their ability to remember things is higher.

Autistic people are actually better than normal people in almost all contexts. The only thing they are less good at is social interaction and that is because human beings are not meant to socialize with a lot of strangers all the time. We're supposed to live in small tribes, no larger than 150 individuals and in such a tribe being autistic is not a problem because you are able to relate to all of them. The problem arises when you have to relate to people you have nothing in common with. Complete strangers all the time, people you don't know. This is an unnatural state for the human being. We're not supposed to live like that. We're not supposed to live with flashing lights all over the place and music and sounds and cars and all this noise. So the autistic person is the more natural person. It's the more healthy, sane, normal person. The "normal" person, the person without autism, is the sick person who is able to function well in a sick world. And that's a rather important point you see.

Not fitting in in a world that is sick to the core is a sign of good health.[4]Autism is a result of our Neanderthal DNA and those who are autistic probably think more like our Neanderthal forebears did. Whilst those who are not autistic think more like Homo sapiens do.

To sum it up, if you are diagnosed with autism, don't be ashamed of it. Be proud because in most contexts, if not all contexts, you're better than others. Also, we don't see more autism now because of vaccines, because of this, because of that. We see it more because we live in a society that is more and more overstimulated in terms of sensory stimuli and therefore the individuals with autism are more easily spotted and diagnosed. Although I don't like the term "diagnosed" because it suggests that there's something wrong with it. And there isn't. So, thanks for watching.

  1. Less broken.
  2. "Normal" people can suffer from other problems too.
  3. Yes, I am speaking in general terms here, and and about averages.
  4. If you are happy and function well in a sewer.
