When you attack another character or another creature in MYFAROG and you inflict some damage on that creature you can roll for a cut effect or a shock effect.[1]A cut effect would be (?) if you cause a bleeding wound on the target. And the shock effect would be to see if you stun, knock down or knock out or even kill of course the character with your blow.

So a creature doesn't need to lose all its hit points in order to die. It can also be killed by a cut effect or a shock effect. The type of weapon used when you inflict damage influences greatly both the cut and the shock effect. Of course bladed weapons are more likely to cause a bleeding wound and concussion weapons are of course more likely to cause a shock effect.

You are also much less likely to cause a shock effect on a very heavy target. Giant creatures are not easily knocked down, so to speak, but they bleed no less that others. There are also "Wounding Gems", "Bleeding Gems" and "Power Gems" in the game, that you can add to your weapons, to make them more likely to hurt, to cut or to shock your targets. Nasty stuff, and all based on historical beliefs!
  1. Well, you roll for a Cut effect AND a Shock effect.
